11 health and wellness tips that I have tried and that can do you good too!

My medical history probably starts at birth because right from the start I had many small health problems that resolved over the years when I started my profession at full capacity.

1. Swollen belly

She has been my life partner for more than 20 years, nagging, persistent and so fond of not having the intention of leaving me. When I discovered how to overcome swelling, over the years, I decided to write the book Train, Eat and Smile: it rebalances the intestines and gets back into shape with the Re-Start program  (LSWR editions). My deflated belly program includes "repair" of the digestive system, the elimination of trigger foods (ie those that trigger inflammation), their gradual reintroduction, training, meditation and stress management. Seeing is believing!

2. Lactose intolerance

I am 100% lactose intolerant, exactly like 7 out of 10 people in Southern Europe. Finding it out by genetic test was initially disheartening because milk and fresh cheeses were really my passion, but I found solutions that gratify me lot. I suggest to my patients to use almond, oat, rice, hazelnut milk and to learn how to make cream cheese. My favorite basic recipe (of which you can find many versions in my book) is based on cashews, pepper, salt and lemon. It is very quick to prepare and very tasty on a slice of bread.

3. Cellulite

It is an inflammatory state of the adipose tissue associated with fluid retention, a pathology in all respects: cellulite indicates a state of suffering and should never be underestimated. I spend most of my days working sitting and, even if I eat in a balanced way and train regularly, it shows up worse every now and then, because unfortunately we women, also because of hormonal fluctuations, tend to be subject to it. My anti-cushion strategy is to team up: you have to keep it for at least 10 minutes, 2 times a day. The ideal is to associate it with self-massage with anti-cellulite and disinfilant oils. It works!

4. Biotype

In twenty years of profession I have found that we are not all of the same biotypological constitution and we do not all respond to the same environmental and food stimuli. A weight loss diet that works for one has no effect on another precisely because it is not biotyped. What does it mean? Just look around: there are oval, triangle, square, trapezium and apple, pear, hourglass or a mix of all faces. All of these are different morphological biotypes. I have identified four of them: the cerebral, bilious, sanguine, lymphatic and their combinations. I know by knowing your biotype you can make a diet that really works and train in a targeted way. By discovering that I am a bilious biotype, I was able to get rid of the extra pounds that have weighed me down for years. If you want to know more

5. Acne

Around the age of 24 my face covered with acne causing me discomfort and embarrassment. Due to a hormonal dysfunction with high insulin levels and a diet that was not yet optimized, I experienced horrible moments because the face is the first part of the body with which we relate to others. Conventional therapies did not work on me. Little by little I corrected the diet to obtain a hormonal rebalancing, I started a specific integration and I treated the skin in the proper way, and so I got a smooth skin, without acne and without blemishes. I have eliminated the latter with special non-photosensitizing peels and personalized treatments. All of this I learned also dealing with antiaging medicine.

6. Training

We train every day even if we don't go to the gym. We train our brain with new stimuli, solve problems, find solutions and always aim for improvement. This is training. What we perhaps train least of all is the body because work, family and commitments take a lot of time, often leaving us without energy. It also happens to me and very often, to overcome this, I prefer to train at high intensity even for a few minutes a day, reserving for the weekend one or two longer training sessions. You can try my 7-minute routine at intervals with 10 seconds of rest and 50 seconds of training 7 times, by performing these exercises in sequence, to be performed 3 times a week. It works and saves time!

7. Enjoy life

Anyone who turns to me and needs a remise en forme and a personalized program to change their lifestyle is afraid of having to make sacrifices because it associates the term diet and change with deprivation. Nothing more wrong. The knowledge and awareness of your body, your metabolism, needs and objectives to be achieved, will ensure that you will achieve results in a serene way without sacrificing taste, good food and conviviality. Many of my patients have adopted recipes from Allenati, Mancia and Sorridi and from Stay fit in the kitchen (Libellula edizioni) in everyday life and share them with friends. Try it too!

8. Troubles

It happens, by will or necessity, to exceed with food, but I have no guilt senses and I do not punish myself with privative diets. I resume my personal feeding routine and, if I feel the need, I use infusions and detoxifying drinks to eliminate retention and signs of excess faster. My favorite strategy? The juice of red beet, fennel, lemon and mint, to be drunk 3 times a day: quickly puts me back on track.

9. Rule 70:30

In my Re-Start system, once the intestine is put back into shape, which at this point has the ability to absorb nutrients in the correct way, and after detoxing, I recommend following the 70:30 rule, which provides for a personalized diet and healthy for 70 percent of the time and 30 percent of concessions . This scheme is ideal for example for the weekend or a dinner with friends because it allows you to quickly return to your routine without particular negative effects.

10. Stress and meditation

I work many hours a day on several fronts and like everyone else I am subjected to many stressors. What makes the difference is learning to manage them, being aware that stress cannot be canceled. However, there are avoidable and unavoidable stresses. Recognizing them is already a good step forward. You can also help yourself with Re-Start meditation that can be performed at any time and place. You can access an inner dimension in which to relax, regenerate and renew. I use it daily, sometimes between one patient and another or while I wait to drain the pasta that cooks in the pot or before bed.I leave the longer meditation sessions to the holiday periods and focus on fast meditation which allows me to get results quickly in terms of efficiency and operability. It really changes life!

11. Integration

Although we try to eat healthy, organic, zero km foods, many foods are free of vitamins, minerals and phytonurients in the appropriate quantities and proportionate to individual needs. That's why I personally use specific supplements that support me daily. And then for its protective, antiaging, anti-cancer, immunostimulating function, I never give up vitamin D in synergy with other vitamins, minerals and antioxidants in order to be able to reduce the proportion of free radicals in the correct way . With the same criteria used for myself, I propose a personalized and biotyped integration that varies according to individual needs and the season.
